Materials studied in laboratory and orbiting satellites were camphor, naphthalene, and biphenyl; materials were successfully used for following applications -- time-delay switches, temporary structures or seals, which disappear after launch; encapsulation of delicate devices and operations, and as source of propulsion impulse for gentle control operations.
