Concept of large orbiting research laboratory, whereby station is launched unmanned and in folded position by Saturn V boost vehicle; following insertion into orbit, initial crew complement will rendezvous with station and assist in deployment and activation; each of three radial modules is divided into six compartments to provide areas for storage of supplies, laboratory facilities, command and control, and crew accommodations; consideration of crew and orbit parameters, station and logistics vehicle characteristics.
