Space radiation analysis requires model of ambient radiation environment, model of spacecraft or body which interacts with environment and physical relationships which describe interactions; number of model environment and spacecraft data are considered; inputs from various technical specialty areas, such as flight mechanics, structures and configuration design, are used to define radiation hazard; analysis furnishes data to these areas which are used to make modifications which reduce radiation dosages without adverse functional or operational effects.
