Problem of calculating equilibrium radiative heating of vehicles entering Earth's atmosphere at velocities up to twice satellite velocity is considered with emphasis on manned vehicles returning from trips to Moon and Mars; information and methods pertinent to calculation of equilibrium radiative heating are presented; numerical results for evaluating stagnation-point heat flux and heat-flux distributions for spherical-segment noses for wide ranges of velocity and altitude; calculated values of stagnation-point radiative heat flux and total heat are presented for manned lunar and Mars vehicles.
