Manned lunar mission will be made through lunar-orbit rendezvous (LOR) which permits separation of Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) from Apollo Command and Service Module (CSM) in lunar orbit for descent to lunar surface; astronauts will return to orbit in ascent stage of LEM for rendezvous and docking with CSM; LEM guidance and control problems to be solved involve astronaut vision, including aids to enhance visual information, and control-system dynamics, control power, and malfunction effects; simulator in LEM-active docking configuration is described; tests carried out and systems studied.
