Analytical method is developed for estimating variability in performance of device that arises from variability of its internal parameters; mathematical model of device is formulated to define relationships between parameters and various performance characteristics; computer calculated partial derivatives of performance characteristics are used in evaluating Propagation of Variance formula; approach, called Moment Method, makes use of mean and variance, first two moments of parameter value frequency distributions; application of method to variability analysis of 2-stage electrohydraulic servo valve is shown.
