First of new Stal-Laval Advanced Propulsion series of marine steam turbines is 16,000 shp set, designated AP17, and is to be installed in tanker of 65,000 tons dw under construction by Deutsche Werft AG for Shell Tankers Ltd; series covers all propulsion requirements from 16,000 to 32,000 shp in standard frame sizes made up from combination of one h-p turbine, three l-p turbines and six standard reduction gear units; further five standard gears were added later.
