Ansaldo-built Michelangelo and CRDA-built Raffaello replace Vulcania and Saturnia on Mediterranean-North America service of Italia Line; both ships are of 900 ft 6 in. length oa, 101 ft 9 in. molded breadth, 30 ft 4 in. draft, and 49,900 tons gross register; 1829 persons can be carried in three classes; twin-screw vessels are each driven by two sets of Ansaldo turbines; normal operating speed will be 26.5 knots with each main turbine developing 43,500 shp at 170 rpm; plans.
