To assess skid resistance in wet conditions of range of airfield surfacings series of tests was carried out on runway at College of Aeronautics, Cranfield, England; locked wheel and peak braking force coefficients were measured for three concrete and three asphalt surfaces using Heavy Load Test Vehicle fitted with aircraft tire; two of concrete and one of asphalt surfaces had been grooved, another asphalt surface had been surface dressed to improve skid resistance.
