Twenty-seven papers presented in publication represent results of conference dealing with comprehensive research program on effectiveness of runway grooving as means for increasing tire traction under operational conditions; program involved construction of research runway, selection of test pavements, selection of groove patterns and grooving techniques, control of water levels during testing, selection and operation of test aircraft, and data acquisition; improvements in aircraft braking and steering capabilities through improvements in skid resistance of runway pavements.
