How study of cargo traffic requirements resulted in development of cargo terminal; to serve complex of aircraft stands and cargo buildings, network of roads and services was constructed, major district heating scheme provided, accommodation built for cargo agents, and terminal was connected to central terminal area of airport by two-lane tunnel; layout of Heathrow cargo terminal presented shows basic similarities between layouts of air and sea cargo terminals.
