Space for departure lounges and entrance to airplanes, boarding times, needed lounge capacities, and number of airplane entry doors; two analytical models derived from data at San Francisco International airport are developed and applied to various sizes of airplanes; one model describes flow to departure lounge; other describes flow from lounge into airplane; based on these models, relationships between loading time and space required for departure lounges and number of entry doors needed into various sizes of airplanes are determined; methodology is applicable to other airports.
