Conflicts in design of turbines for automotive gas turbine engine are examined; considerations of stress, efficiency, engine and vehicle acceleration requirements, and compatibility of flow path are shown to impose number of opposing requirements; philosophies used to compromise conflicts in design of Gen Motors GT-304 and GT-305 engines; turbine test facility and test results obtained.
