Hot Cycle propulsion system uses fuselage mounted turbine gas generators and ducting system to supply hot gases to blade tips to drive helicopter rotor; system substitutes light weight ducting for heavy and complex gear boxes, shafting, tail rotor and power turbines required in shaft driven machines; flying crane application and characteristics of 20-ton payload vehicle are shown; craft can carry payloads of twice its empty weight for short ranges, has excellent payload characteristics up to several hundred miles range, and ferry range of 1500 nautical mi.
