Studies undertaken by Lockheed California Co and development of Lockheed rigid rotor system; XH-51A research aircraft was built to investigate stability, control, and handling qualities of rigid rotor system, to determine vibration characteristics of system and to measure stresses and loads on all dynamic components over maximum speed of 175 knots for all normal flying operations; design objective of XH-51A and description; technical features; wind tunnel program, flight results and correlation.
