Increased safety of today's automobiles is direct result of simulated crash studies made by manufacturers and participated in by associated activities; research setup and studies undertaken, such as barrier crashes, collision and rollover studies; evaluation of study techniques and results of crash studies; effectiveness of seat belts in minimizing injury to passengers and drivers and other protective devices and improvements is shown.
