Study of feasibility of system of directional lane control signals which, through automatic control, would be capable of providing 3 inbound lanes in morning and 3 outbound lanes in evening; study was constructed to obtain information for installing signal system to increase practical capacity for most heavily traveled direction during peak hours; system selected consisted of incandescent 12-in. arrows suspended over lanes which never change direction, and neon blackout rectangular signals suspended over lanes subject to change of direction.
