Vessels are for Far East services of Alfred Holt and Co associates, Glen Line Ltd, and are in building at different yards; design is characterized by heavily raked curving stem, which terminates in pronounced bulbous forefoot, some 8 ft across at widest part, and afterbody of so-called clear water type with suspended rudder; length oa 544 ft, breadth 74 ft 6 in., gross 11,000 tons, total bale capacity 636,000 cu ft, service speed 20 knots; each will have Sulzer engine developing 18,000 bhp at 119 rpm.
