Ltd., Manchester, are first of this type to be used on this line; principal particulars are: cylinder diam. 17 1/2 in.; stroke 26 in.; boiler pressure 180 lb. per sq. in.; wheelbase of engine 26 ft. 3 in.; weight 67 tons 2 cwt.; tractive effort at 75 per cent of boiler pressure of 26,870 lb. is exerted.
