Oct 1930 n 211 p 230-231: Electric rolling stock on Southern Railway consists of 840 motor coaches and 768 trailer coaches; all are fitted with Metropolitan-Vickers electropneumatic control gear and 572 motor coaches are fitted with MetropolitanVickers motors; each motor coach has two trucks; power is supplied at 11,000 volts, three-phase, 25 cycles and converted to d.c. in 45 substations.
