Prior to 1914 there were no automobiles, transportation being served practically entirely by camels, horses, and donkeys; development in transport facilities; there are now about 4000 automobiles and trucks in operation; administration and finance of roads; feature of road-construction program during last three years has been work accomplished in connection with road through Kurdistan, known as Erbile-Shaqlawah-Rowandiz-Rayat road.
