Survey of organization of industry; supply facilities for engineering and shipbuilding are much in excess of present demand and even future prospects; remedial measures suggested; rationalization deserves earnest consideration; advent of oil fuel has had profound influence on shipping; there would appear to be very considerable economies to be obtained by use of high-pressure superheated steam plants; pulverized coal apparently offers possible increase in efficiency. Abstract of presidential address before North-East Coast Instn. Engrs. and Shipbldrs. (see also Machy. Market, no. 1568, Nov. 21, 1930, pp. 17-18)
