Today, as direct result of constructive legislation, 57 ships designed specifically for foreign trade, including two superliners for United States Lines, are either on ways or are definitely planned; because of immense importance of merchant marine to United States as whole and to Americans individually question of benefit which nation will derive from these ships deserves fullest consideration.
