Propeller design has resulted mainly from two lines of investigation; experiments with models of propellers initiated by Fraude and development of airplane propellers which have shed good deal of light upon propellers in general: specific reference to: method of reduction of model experiment results; consideration of propeller apart from ship coefficients; design diagrams reduced from model experiments; reactions between propeller and ship; effect of variation of blade types.
