Transportation is provided by large electric public utility, Toronto Transportation Commission, organized in 1920 for taking over privately owned Toronto Railway Co.; cost of acquiring system of private company in 1921 was $12,000,000; since that time many millions have been spent in complete rehabilitation and extension of system, including tracks, cars, car houses, shops and other facilities; fixed assets now amount to $50,000,000.
