In connection with Lubumbashi trials new series of trials at sea were carried out by Centre Belge de Recherches Navales on sister ship, Lukuga, with service speed of 16 knots, while that of Lubumashi was 15 knots; study was made in view of design of new series of cargo liners for Compagnie Maritime Belge; Lukuga was more extensively instrumented, this including torsionmeter, Pitot log, anemometer, wind vane, recording strain gages, pitch and roll gyros, and wave recorders; comparison of ship and model results is also reported.
