It is shown that evaluation of drag of blunt nosed airfoil by thin airfoil theory requires addition of "leading edge force", analogous to leading edge thrust of lifting airfoil; method of calculation illustrated by application to Joukowski airfoil in subsonic flow and thin elliptic cone in supersonic flow.
