Vessel for testing underwater equipment at Naval Ordnance Laboratory, White Oak, Md, will simulate ocean water pressures to depth of 1/2 mi below surface; vessel is heavy horizontal cylindrical shell of steel plate, with one end sealed permanently and other closed by door lifted hydraulically; three 7-in. ports of heavy glass allow observation of interior while testing; underwater apparatus and instruments exposed to high pressure and other submarine equipment can be tested.
