Employing two Meco Type C rail layers, Chicago and North Western laid three track mi of welded 78-ft 115-lb rails near Waukegan, Ill, replacing 110-lb rails; machine is self propelled unit while engaged in rail laying operations; it consists of chain hoist mounted on fixed boom which is supported on wheel mounted metal frame, and is powered by 10-hp 4cycle gasoline engine; two machines laid 30 to 40 long rails per hr.
