Application of mathematical models of various suboperations in terminal area, and use of fast time simulation on digital computer to study operation of complete terminal area traffic control system, are shown; models are used to analyze capacity of race track holding patterns, laddering operation, and instrument landing system (ILS) funnel with time separations at gate; results of fast time simulation on IBM 7094, for advanced method of providing sequencing and spacing for single ILS runway are given; landing system demonstrates capacity of 32 landings/hr, along with runway availability for 20 takeoffs.
