Possibilities for improvement in aircraft maintenance by use of (AIDS) Aircraft Integrated Data System are so numerous that concept may be considered major breakthrough; new system may provide flight crews with continuous information about health of their aircraft, while at same time data on cause of incipient failure will be telemetered to landing terminal during actual flight; two areas of use for recorded flight data, namely, crash analysis and maintenance, are considered.
