U S Air Force and Navy versions of F-111 all-purpose aircraft, capable of speeds up to 2.5 Mach are described; aircraft is equipped with hydromechanically variable wing sweep (up to 72°), and TF-30 Pratt and Whitney afterburning turbofan engines; air-data computer contributes to automatic performance of craft; ability to fly supersonic right on deck is possible through use of terrain-following radar served by analog computer; crew-escape system is described.
