Series of flight research programs in field of sonic boom examined overpressure phenomenon, relationship between aircraft types and operational profiles and sonic boom, effects on materials and light aircraft both on ground and airborne, public reaction to sonic boom and factors in design and operation of future aircraft to minimize sonic boom problems; performance objectives of supersonic transport; findings of study of public reaction to sonic boom in Oklahoma City area and structural response program, at White Sands Missile Range, NM, are presented.
