Research carried out by AiResearch Mfg Co Div into gas turbine exhaust noise, its sources, and transmission processes; turbine exhaust function; development of new high-temperature erosion-resistant acoustic materials which led to evolution of new exhaust noise silencers for on-board transport aircraft and for silencing ground support installations; examples of applications, simple silencers, self-cooled silencers for Caravelle and Convair aircraft, etc and in portable ground installation.
