Effect of psychological factors on reaction time, and of physiological factors on response time, in applying automobile brakes; estimated time for nerve-pulse transmission is 0.15 sec; total time for this, for releasing accelerator, and for locking of brakes is estimated at 0.4 to 0.5 sec; time between perception of danger and decision to act is not estimated; by using eye-muscle sensor to actuate auxiliary electromagnetic brake, theoretical saving of 0.35 sec is claimed.
