Efforts undertaken by MIRA (Motor Industry Research Assn), to review British engineering methods in vehicle stability and control, and programs for research; terminology definitions were studied and standardized for use within industry; development of equipment and techniques for measuring steady-state vehicle characteristics; details of MIRA tethered test facility and instrumentation for tethered test rig; measurements of tire data; increasing availability and use of radial ply tire are noted; wind tunnel studies made and results obtained showing aerodynamic effects on directional control of three cars; role of driver-vehicle relationship.
