Scope and objectives of FAA medical research and development program; programs at Civil Aeromedical Research Inst (CARI) Oklahoma City concern applied aspects of physiology, psychology, pharmacology/ biochemistry, and protection and survival equipment; other studies include evaluation of fatigue in pilots flying intercontinental jet operations and resultant effect on their flying performance due to physiological time belt difference; evaluation of toxicological effect of agricultural sprays on crop dusters and protective equipment required; aircraft safety research to improve safety of aviation, including such efforts as crashworthiness, fire protection, noise suppression, and lightning studies.
