Design features of British Railways passenger cars in which coach body is made of sandwich construction of reinforced plastic faces with polyurethane foam as core; response to stresses, rigidity, and decrease in weight are most important advantage of this type of construction; roofs are molded in steel mold; molding of core blocks and laminating of glass-reinforced panels to cores are described.
