At Chislet mine in Kent coal fields, "trolley wire" locomotive haulage installation is used; single substation will be located midway along total length of 5000 yd; track is one of three rails, except at bypass where four are used; single positive wire is provided over each track carrying current at maximum of 550-v d-c and rails form return circuit; two pairs of 16 ton 152-hp locomotives haul trains of thirty 2 1/4 ton mine cars; mine is methane-free.
