Solution to problem of fixing crane track rails in design of building for new rolling mill; outstanding feature is lack of precautions against track lifting-off; rails, butt-welded in lengths up to 540 m, are continuous over three expansion joints in girders; in longitudinal direction no connection between rails and girders was provided; buffers at track end permit up to 1 m creep movement of rails; lateral fixing is ensured by flat steel bar stops with 2 mm clearance and at intervals of 1250 mm on each side of rail.
