Improvements in current methods for calculation of loads in members of metal-truss wing spars subjected to combined bending and compression; effective moment of inertia of actual metal-truss wing spar is calculated for wing spar built and tested by Boeing Airplane Co.; calculated value is checked against test data, and conclusions are drawn regarding accuracy of calculated value.
