Light-weight engines suitable for marine work in wide range of powers; two classes are available, low-duty engines, ranging from 24 to 120 b.hp. suitable for small craft where weight is not ruling factor, and standard high-efficiency engines ranging from 60 to 1400 b.hp. for main propulsion by direct drive through reverse gear, mechanical drive through reduction gear, or electric drive, or for auxiliary service in large vessels; standard engines are being built by mass-production methods.
