Drawbacks of wooden shores; Holland steel shore, constructed by Netherland Graving Dock Co., Amsterdam, consists of two built-up girders, each formed of two channel sections connected together by pieces of steel plate, outer girder having channel flanges set outwards, while inner girder has channel flanges set inwards; thus two girders can move easily one within other.
