Of six vessels first ordered of which five are in service, all but one are similar so far as hulls are concerned; 520 ft. in length b.p.; molded beam 70 ft. 6 in.; loaded draft 28 ft. 11 in.; dead-weight capacity 16,200 tons; three have Krupp engines with six cylinders, 689-mm. bore and stroke of 1300 mm., speed being 90 r.p.m.; one has M.A.N. machinery and other has engines of Fiat type.
