National Coal Association has challenged Pennsylvania Railroad to justify electrification of its railroad; since Coal Association, by its reported statements, is attacking economic justification of industrial electrification in general, Electrical World has asked Pennsylvania Railroad to explain why it chose to supplant steam with electric operation, and also why National Coal Associations criticism is unjustified; reasons are given.
