Design of vertical open-throat wind tunnel built mainly for studying spinning characteristics of airplane models, but used as well for usual type; special spinning balance developed to measure forces and moments with model simulating actual spin; comparisons of results of stable autorotation and of rolling-moment tests obtained both in vertical tunnel and in old horizontal.
