Particulars of ancient German galley excavated from Nydam bogs in Schleswig in 1863, and now in restored form in Museum for National Relics in Kiel; sectional drawings of ship; features of design; it had no provision for sails, and was therefore strictly a rowing vessel; calculated weight empty was 3300 kg, and loaded, including crew of 45, weapons, provisions, etc, 8800 kg.
