Investigation of velocity and pressure conditions in propeller slipstream shows importance of streamlining; tests with streamline rudder behind propeller show slipstream angles to be greatly reduced; BETZ-PRANDTL theory underestimates thrust and torque at inner radii and overestimates towards tip; this points to defect in theory which may be due to neglect of slipstream contraction.
