Past, present, and future airplane engines are briefly discussed; ultimate compression-ignition will be more of mixed-cycle type in which proper fuel, doped so as to preclude possibility of preignition will be introduced into cylinders and compressed to high pressures; alcohol fuels blended with ether and benzol.
