Results of investigation of metal shell-type fuselage for airplanes conducted by G. H. Martin Co. since 1927; no specific relation between body diameter and skin thickness; ratio of diaphragm spacing to stringer spacing; strength of skin alone and strength of stringers alone could be computed separately; effect of variation in cross-section shape; further studies for improvement of shell in relation to quantity production.
